sunny and 67 here in maui vs cloudy and 48 in sacramento at posting. truly a world away right now. at maui coffee roasters before going back to thrifty car rental to get a new tire or exchange the car. thick delicious cold brew coffee at maui coffee roasters
yup maui tacos. have to do it maui style. an island institution. i went with the fish. when in rome er maui. got a quick snack on the way to paia and back to haiku on the hana highway. stopping at sprecklesville kids beach, baldwin beach for a while, and then to the next adventure.
its a wonderful life in maui. took the car back to thrifty car rental to exchage because of the previous tire blowout. they were out of nissan versa economy cars so they gave us a nissan altima instead. upgrade thrifty car rental. after getting our new high end cruising machine we hit a nearby botanical garden (kinda funny to say nearby non chalantly) and then went 2 miles to wailuku and visited the bailey house and museum. cherylicious!!! time for a quick island bite and spend some maui quality time on the beach. land shark? it's a wonderful life in maui! everytime you eat pineapple an angel gets it's wings
is there a doctor onboard? not the words on wants to here over the airplane intercom. it happens in movies but real life????
yes it does and yes it did on our flight. 900 miles out in the pacific ocean on comes the announcement. there were several doctors actually on this plane. three words. maui resort golf.... so whatever medical advice was needed happened sonewhere further back in the plane. it would suck to have anything happen to a passenger 900 miles from the nearest airport. and for a lot of nervous passengers it would suck to have to return to oakland. luckily nothing bad happened. am i to feel guilty for thinking like i'm sure a lot of others were in lets hope we dont have to turn back to california? so we landed. we got the rental car. we hit the road. we ran to a hidden beach. yeah! our check in was 3pm so we decided to make a quick road trip to the other side of the island. that seems like its far away on a map. but it was only 10 miles. why did we do it? was it like adele trying to say hello from the other side. no.... it was sea creatures. maui ocean center was very nice. an outdoor multi terraced exposition looking out onto the ocean. there are more pictures of the maui ocean center in the maui pictures section of sacramento to maui. we grabed a quick flatbread bite of kahula pork and pineapple and hit the road to go to our accomidations at the haiku plantation inn out on the road to hana. as we hit the road the road hit back. pow. thud thud thud went the right rear tire. so pulled over quick and looked for the replacement tire. not in the usual hiding spot but under the car. we rented from thrifty car rental and apparently their road service was in deed thrifty. i could pay thrifty $78 to have someone change the flat or just do it my damn self. what customer service you offer thrifty car rental.not!
anyway we made it to haiku and the old plantation house tucked away under a canopy of trees we are staying at. time for a breather, some water, and maybe then chase some random chickens around the property. maui chickens have free range. the air bridge broke down before it could connect to the airplane. no one able to get off plane. so we had to wait just outside the terminal in the airplane.
at writing the plane is about to be pushed back and slowly tugged to the next gate. wonder if people will get a few feet added to their frequent flier card total. we're not in a rush like some others with checked bags. we're alredy on island time. |
