Billboard Advertising
There are no billboard ads allowed by law on Maui to spoil your view of nature. When you go around Maui you notice something is amiss but you can't quite place it. It's no advertising directed at you.
Chickens
Over the years the storms have unleashed the chickens from their coups. So now they own the island. Do yourself favor and bring earplugs or get ready to be woken up real early.
The Rain
If it's raining whee you are go a few miles. it will literally change that quickly. Especially if you go to the west side of the island or leeward side where the storms die out going up the hills/mountains.
Rentals
The Maui government has laws on the books and occasionally shuts places down that are illegal. Find out what accommodations are legal here and relax.
The Valley Isle
Maui is known as the Valley Isle. Formed with two big mountains there is a central lowland that runs through the middle. Your plane arriving at Kahului Airport might make a bumpy approach through the valley depending on winds at the time.
Maui Sugar
2016 was really the last year of Big Sugar. The last year for generations of families that worked the fields. Seems a shame.
Beaches
Maui has lots of miles of beaches. In fact the most swimmable beaches of all the Hawaiian Islands. 81 accessible beaches ranging from sand colors in white, gold, black, and even red.
